Loving is not just looking at each other, it’s looking in the same direction – Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and it’s high time we get our s**t together and buy the cards, flowers, teddies and romantic presents in time for the 14th February. You don’t even have to be in a relationship in order to enjoy this soppy, romantic, over-commercialised holiday; you can celebrate it by exchanging gifts with your best friends, your parents, siblings, whoever you choose. It’s a day for love, not a day for couples.
Let’s start with the fun part – looking at gifts for ourselves… or our girlfriends, or mums and sisters.
| La Vie Est Belle perfume & body lotion | Rosie Huntington-Whiteley underwear | Frends Layla Rose Gold headphones | Where Rainbows End book | Olivia Burton watch | Lush bath bomb | Rosie for Autograph make-up | Pandora charm | Ted Baker gift set | Yankee Candle | Friends With Benefits DVD |
Perfume is always an excellent choice of gift for her. La Vie Est Belle is a fabulous choice for Valentine’s Day because of its sugary sweetness, not to mention the lovely pink and silver combination. The body products are a great addition to make your loved one’s day extra special too.
Lingerie is that piece of sexy that every girl wants to receive. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley will forever be my go-to for lingerie that makes me feel amazing underneath my clothes. Her colours and patterns are feminine with a lovely silk texture too.
Rose gold is a big colour again this year. For music lovers, receiving a stylish and handy gift is the perfect combination.
You can never go wrong with a book or DVDs. They may seem a lot less personal, but if you haven’t got the money for something fancy, buying a book or DVD that they’ve wanted for ages is a lovely gift. If you can find the first edition of their favourite classic, even better!
Olivia Burton watches are beautiful and a collectors item because there are so many different designs. She may not even wear a watch, but she will grow to absolutely love it, just like I did with mine. I feel really weird if I don’t wear mine daily now. I nearly fall asleep in it sometimes.
Bath bombs are a great gift for somebody who needs to relax. Perhaps she’s been having a stressful time at work or university (or both!). It doesn’t need to be expensive. Combine this with a Yankee candle in their favourite scent, and you’ve just given her a relaxing night in for one.
Make up is always a favourite with ladies. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has recently launched her new beauty range with Marks & Spencer. Its rose-gold packaging tops off this luxurious but affordable gift.
A pandora charm may be a classic Valentine’s present in the twenty-first century, but they are beautiful and thoughtful. It doesn’t have to be a heart to signify your love, but something that has been on her wish list for a while which she hasn’t bought herself would be a great surprise.
A gift set is something that feels that little bit more special, whether it is Ted Baker, Soap & Glory, or something a little different. It may be that bit more expensive for the extra luxury feel that a set gives.
If all else fails, a lovely bunch of flowers will not go amiss.
What will you be buying for the lady in your life?
Love, Faye x
