Spring Beauty Favourites & Haul

Can words describe the fragrance of the very breath of Spring? – Neltje  Blanchan.

It has been quite a while since I wrote about anything beauty related on the blog. It’s not that I don’t love it; I’m just (embarrassingly so!) unaware of virtually anything to do with it. I don’t have a proper skincare regime (very bad, I know) and my makeup skills aren’t fab. Plus, when travelling, I am not the kinda girl to pack a makeup bag and let it take up space in my backpack, nor am I the kinda girl to put makeup on when it will definitely slide off in the heat. I’m much more of a barefaced than full face girl, both at home and away. I do, however, know a thing or two about perfume, and proudly so, which is why I talk about fragrance a lot more. Plus, I adore perfume; it is an obsession of mine and one of those expensive obsessions that cannot be contained.

Spring brought my birthday – and other exciting events – and so it gave me an excuse to put makeup on a little bit more. My birthday also meant that I received some incredible beauty-related gifts, especially three – yes three – brand spanking new perfumes. I am one lucky girl!

Mon Guerlain by Guerlain

I have not stopped wearing this since my partner bought me it for my birthday. It is stunning, and I have gotten so many amazing comments about it too. It is an oriental fragrance with incredible raw ingredients such as carla lavender, sambac jasmine and album sandalwood which are sourced from across the globe. It is on the higher end of the expense spectrum due to the inaccessibility of these ingredients which can be found in Provence, India and Australia, but the scent is so worth the money. I can say that because I didn’t buy it, although I definitely will repurchase when I run out. The set I got was the 30ml set (perfect size for travelling!); in it was also a mini body lotion which is so good. Believe me when I say that you don’t need a lot of it on because the scent is just as magnified as the eau de parfum. Plus, it makes your skin ultra soft and smooth. Just a tiny spritz of perfume is all that needs to be added and it lasts all night.

Flowerbomb Bloom by Viktor & Rolf

I’ve always been intrigued by the original Flowerbomb but so many people have it so I didn’t want to follow the crowd. Instead, I opted for Lancôme’s La Vie Est Belle which is very similar in its sugary sweetness (and slightly cheaper!). I adore sugary, sweet, floral, fruity fragrances and so when one of my TPS besties gave me the new Bloom, he and I both knew I would love it. It is slightly different from its popular predecessor with a fresher nature to its sweetness. This is due to the pure air molecule in the heart of the fragrance alongside a floral bouquet of peony, patchouli and jasmine. Despite it being an eau de toilette, it does certainly last and it is strong and beautiful. Another one for the glam occasions!

Jimmy Choo L’eau by Jimmy Choo

I literally love having best friends who still work in fragrance – and who know what you will love – because for the third and final perfume that is in this mini haul/favourites, we have the new eau de toilette from Jimmy Choo! It is also quite sweet and something I will definitely be wearing during the day time as it doesn’t seem to last as long on my skin. *Insert crying face here* Sometimes this does happen and it is dependent on everyone’s skin. Nevertheless it is a lovely floral with notes of bergamot, hibiscus flower and peony with musky and woody undertones too.

Baby Doll by YSL

I will never go to any other mascara again. This is what happens when you use a product once and absolutely love and adore it, thus only ever wanting to use that for the rest of your life. This is also the trouble with falling in love with luxury products: it takes more money than I can afford on beauty! The thin brush is perfect for lengthening lashes and it is definitely volumising creating a natural-but-dramatic extension of your own lashes. Perfect for day and night.

Dior Addict Lipstick by Dior

I am not a huge fan of lipstick; at least I wasn’t before I tried the luxury end of lippies – starting with Chanel in Melbourne. Addict glides on so much better than any drugstore lippy I’ve tried. The quality is higher and there is no exception to my very own Dior Addict. I adore the colour. It is a deep pink, red with a glittery sheen across the top. It’s probably my favourite lip colour that I’ve ever seen, and therefore I wear it all the time.

Le Rouge Á-Porter by Givenchy

Another one of my lovely presents off a lovely friend. I haven’t actually tried this yet but the colour is incredible. The official name is rose fantasie but to me it is a proper Barbie pink! Or a baby pink. It’s so bright, and something that I am super excited to try. I wouldn’t even know whether to wear it to a day event or on a night out but I can’t wait to try it!

24/7 Waterline Eye Pencil by Urban Decay

My very first piece of Urban Decay beauty! Not that I have any more Givenchy or Dior make up stashed away somewhere. From just rolling it across the skin on the back of my hand, I can already tell it’s fantastic quality and an incredible smoky black. I already know that it will be long-lasting which is what everyone wants and needs in a black eyeliner.

As much as I do love a bargain, there are just some luxury items that a girl has to have in her life.

Are there any products that you really want to try? Do you have any? What do you think?

Love, Faye xo
