Buy less. Choose well. Make it last – Vivienne Westwood.
Whether you are in a relationship, single, or in between, dates are everywhere this month. Not only do you have to book way in advance (I still don’t get the obsession with Valentine’s Day), but you want to look great too. Or, if you don’t have a significant other, a date night with the girls is just as fun, where glamming up is on the agenda, even more so.
The restaurant is booked, you’ve chosen the bar, you’ve suggested going on the huge Ferris wheel which overlooks the city. Now, all you need is to have a swift look through your wardrobe… The clothes end up on the floor, and there is nothing for you to wear. Absolutely nothing. It is bizarre how we can all have an entire rack of clothing but come away with nothing that is quite right for the occasion. Fear not, head to your local Topshop – more specifically, the Personal Shopping section.
On Saturday, a group of Liv Bloggers were invited to an event in Topshop, Liverpool One. The lovely Allie organised it all, and Emily – a style queen – welcomed us with breakfast and a specially made rack of new in items, which we all lusted after. A firm favourite was the purple checked blazer which screamed Clueless. One lovely blogger purchased it after keeping tight hold of it for the majority of the morning!
Emily, personal shopper at Topshop in Liverpool One, talked us through some of the up-coming trends for this season, pieces that would go together and staple items to have in your wardrobe. Each piece was incredible; from Kurt Cobain tees to perfectly-fit jeans to jumpsuits, skirts and more. Plus, it was like a capsule wardrobe, too, as every item complimented something in another. One trend that was evident is the stripe down the side, which I have seen in other bloggers’ and vloggers’ posts. Smart casual is a huge trend right now, and I feel like I need to invest in some pieces of my own!
The point of the bloggers breakfast at Topshop was to get the word out there about Personal Shopping. It is completely complimentary and there is no pressure to spend, spend, spend. Before, when I thought of the Personal Shopping department, I always assumed that there was a hidden cost, or you needed to be buying at least a new outfit. Nope! Emily assured us all that you don’t have to buy anything at all, but you can try new styles, mix and match different items, and have an incredible shopping experience like no other.
With that in mind, if you are struggling a little on what to buy for the up-coming string of date nights (or a wedding outfit, items to fill your suitcase, a glam night out with the girls etc.), go and see Emily on the top floor of Topshop in Liverpool One (or your local Topshop personal shopper!). She is a complete babe and handles everything with confidence, style and ease, taking the headache and sheer panic out of shopping. A last minute event? No problem! Call and book in, or just wander up the escalator. I wish I had gone to a personal shopper when I found out I won a spot at Victoria’s BHF dinner just two days before the event. Panic buying is never a good idea!
Have you shopped with your local Personal Shopping department before? How was your experience? Are you tempted to try one out now?
Love, Faye xo
