A friend is someone who knows all about you and still loves you – Elbert Hubbard.
Travelling is one of the best things in life: exploring new cities, discovering new things, doing what you wouldn’t normally do at home. It is all part of the adventure, and doing these things with your best friend is even better. Recently, my best friend and I flew to Prague together. We hadn’t been on a single holiday together since a big group of us went to Turkey in 2010! Eight years later, we decided it was about time – and a half – that we pottered off to another part of the globe. Our trip to Prague has instilled a new life in us; we’ve decided that more city breaks are needed, along with more architecture, more history and various types of wine and beer from all different kinds of countries! Right now, I’m visiting another best friend of mine in France; spending quality time together after months apart is amazing, and no matter the distance or time, we always end up the same old girls – laughing until we cry, and probably napping during the afternoons.
The most obvious reason is to have some girl time away from home. Life gets in the way and sometimes, you end up never seeing or even hearing from your friends for (ever) a couple of weeks. Being abroad, or just a different city, means that you can spend quality time together with no distractions. You get to talk about clothes, boy/girl drama, makeup, smears etc. and reminisce on the good old times, too. This kind of chat can go on throughout the entire holiday which is just what you need to have a new focus on life for when you return to home soil.
SECOND, HONEST, OPINIONS
Being with the girls means having second opinions on everything. From clothes to lipstick shades, to what they really think about that guy you’re currently dating, they’re going to tell you, and tell it to you straight. Sometimes the truth hurts, but at least you know their heart is in the right place and ultimately, they want what is best for you. Being on holiday means in-depth scrutiny for a longer period of time, too, meaning that you’ll come back all talked out with a clear head.
MEMORIES WILL NEVER BE TAINTED POST BREAK UP
It sounds silly but it is a pretty good reason when you’re looking back on all of your incredible trips with friends. Don’t get me wrong: live in the moment, cherish the time with your significant other – it may never happen – and have the most incredible holiday together. However, with friends it is less likely that you will have a mahoosive bust up and never speak to them again; therefore, all your precious holiday moments with the girls can be reflected on time and time again, without your heart being a little sore.
MORE LIKELY TO WANT TO DO THE SAME THINGS
You’re best friends for a reason. Not only do you love each other, tolerate each other’s bad behaviours, dislike the same things, you more than likely have similar interests. And so, this makes it the perfect opportunity to go and explore the areas that appeal to the both of you. If, however, there are some hobbies or interests that one of you doesn’t like, you love each other so much that you’ll go and do it for your friend anyway.
THEY WON’T MIND THE BILLIONS OF PHOTOS TO GET THAT ONE GOOD ONE
In the world of Instagram that we live in, the perfect photo is a must for any and all occasions. Every girl knows this. Patience is a virtue when it comes to getting the one; as bloggers we all know it. So, when your bestie not only understands the need for a billion photos, but takes them and encourages different locations, poses and shots, you know you have the bestest friend in the whole wide world.
When was the last time you had a holiday with your best friend? Get booking a long weekend away for some quality time together!
