Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk – First Impressions

Makeup can give you the confidence to… change your job, move abroad, get a pay rise – Charlotte Tilbury.

I know. I know. Where the hell have I been to only be trying out this iconic brand just now?! It’s not as if I haven’t admired Charlotte Tilbury makeup from afar; I’ve always loved the look of this gorgeous makeup, full of glittery pinks and beautiful nude shades that are absolutely stunning. The quick answer is: I have never prioritised luxury beauty brands in my life… at least not until the past year or so. I’m talking about makeup here; perfume, luxury or not, stole my heart years ago.

The first purchase I made at the Charlotte Tilbury counter was last Christmas and it was to buy my best friend’s present; she’s more of a luxury lover than I am. She returned the favour which is how this lucky girl is now able to use Charlotte Tilbury makeup. I received these products back in May for my birthday, and I’ve only just used them for the very first time right now… five months later. You know how some people can’t wait to try new products? I’m not that person. I tend to keep brand new makeup in a shrine-like state for as long as possible. This, I’ll admit, got a little out of hand.

It would have helped if I read the mini instructions before plonking it onto my face. I’ll be honest, I’ve never had a proper “grown-up” blusher before because I just don’t use it. I used to contour my face a couple of years back, but I don’t bother now. Putting it on made me feel that bit of excitement when getting all dolled up for a big night out… even if I did put it on completely wrong. I used it as a contour. Yep, I can hear you laughing through the screen and, what’s worse, I swept my brush across the entire palette instead of saving the centre for a lovely rosy glow and the outside for my cheekbones. I kinda attempted to do what I should have done afterwards but ended up mixing it all together. I don’t think I’ve done a bad job of it, considering how out of practice I am. It definitely has that glow, sparkly factor which I love, but I won’t be using it every time I put makeup on. It makes my face look more defined, yes, but a little less natural to what I’m now used to. I’ll be saving this product for the parties and the nights out, ready for my cheeks to glow under low lighting and strobe lights.

There’s definitely a theme here, but now with makeup that I 100% know how to use properly! I fell in love with these colours as soon as I saw them. They are simply stunning. A mix of shimmer, sparkle and class. With the colours being a little more neutral and pinker than what I used to wear (the darker the better a few years ago to next to nothing now), I wasn’t sure how much they would show up on my skin. As soon as I put the lightest colour over my lid, I was sold. In fact, I did a double take because of how pigmented it was. Usually, it takes a good few sweeps of the brush for the colour to show up half as much as this palette does. It is absolutely incredible from the word go. Each colour mixes together brilliantly to create a look that can be beautifully subtle for day wear and intensified for evening looks. Or the other way around, if you prefer to wear your makeup that way. I especially adore the third shade that is the pop of colour in the quad. It has a gorgeous glitter effect and shimmers in every reflection of light. I’m a sucker for a little bit of glitter, even if it seems like I’m not into my makeup or beauty at all.

My very first impressions of Charlotte Tilbury beauty are at the very top end of adoration! I am in slight shock that I haven’t thought about treating myself to her incredible products before. I stumbled across her website before and I am in awe of the number of products there are. They even do perfume! Next time I head to a department store, I will be taking a closer look at the products and maybe even purchasing something special.

Are you a fan of Charlotte Tilbury makeup? What are your favourite products?

Love, Faye xo
